Osmany Moncada, Veterinary Technician
Osmany Moncada was born and raised in Cuba. Growing up, he had two German Shepherds which sparked his interest in animal science. His passion for animals led him to study veterinary medicine at the University of Granma where he earned his DVM degree.
After years of work with the State Veterinary Medicine Institute in Cuba, he decided to extend his professional expertise as a consultant in Animal Public Health and Animal Quarantine in the Republic of Djibouti. During his career in Djibouti, he worked with the agriculture officials and also got involved in projects to create and improve access to veterinary services in the city, poor areas, and villages. This unique experience helped him grow professionally and spiritually.
Osmany’s passion and desire to continue to grow professionally was the fuel for his move to the US in 2009. Osmany brings lots of unique experiences and skills to the Firehouse team--not to mention he is fluent 3 in languages! When he is not with the furry patients, he enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, working out, and studying. He is currently involved in the licensing process to practice veterinary medicine in the US.
